Your Licence
In order to participate in any of
our courses or to take your DSA test you will need to hold either a
full or provisional UK or Northern Ireland driving licence.
If you intend to ride anything bigger
than a moped (50cc/ restricted to 30mph) you should have provisional
entitlement for category A on your licence. This is already on your
licence if you hold a full car licence, but must be specifically applied
for when you apply for your provisional licence.
To apply for your provisional licence
you will need forms D1 and D750 from the Post Office. Provisional motorcycle
licences issued from the 1st February 2001 will remain valid until age
70. If you hold a photocard provisional licence showing a two year category
A entitlement, you may update your licence to show the longer entitlement
at any time after 1st February 2001, on payment of the appropriate exchange
fee.
Those who have held old two year motorcycle
provisional licences which have lapsed may renew their motorcycle entitlement
without having a year off. You will need to send the relevant forms
and fees.
Paper Provisional licences please
note: The DVLA last issued paper licences in December 1999, so if you
have a paper provisional licence it will have expired by now.
For
driving licence enquiries you can contact the DVLA on
01792 772 151 or click the logo.
You MUST bring your driving licence with you to EVERY appointment. You
will also be required to bring proof of ID when sitting your test (unless
you already hold a photo-card licence,) in which case you must bring
both parts. You will also have to read a vehicle number plate at the
required distance, 67.5 ft / 20.5m
